Q What does this nutrition service comprise?
This is a very unique service incorporating three areas every consultation – health psychology, exercise prescription and nutritional assessment. We are referred by chiropractors, GPs and other health providers difficult cases that are looking at a natural, complete approach to enhance their health. Our focus is to get to the bottom line cause of the health problem.
Q What are the health benefits of this service?
The health benefits is a complete understanding of your condition and the maximal use of complimentary medicine to combat the condition. One outcome is empowerment. We pass on the knowledge to you so that you can self-manage over time.
Q How long do I need treatment?
This will vary but usually consultations are once per week for a month and then pushed out to fortnightly to monthly depending on how you have gone.
Q How much does it cost and for how long am I seen?
The uniqueness of this service means we roll health psychology, exercise prescription and nutritional advice all into one consultation, every consultation. This necessitates extended consultations every time, as this process is complex and involved and we are referred difficult cases. All consultations are $85 and run for around 30 minutes. Concession prices apply for pensioner, student or health care card.
Q Will health insurance cover me?
Unfortunately, the health insurance group have failed to recognise our uniqueness, specialty and qualifications despite our efforts. Bureaucracy means our proposal has been put in the "too hard basket". We have clearly explained that we have
- completed a nutrition degree from the leading nutrition university in Victoria - Deakin University
- membership of the premier scientific group and stakeholder looking at obesity - ASSO
- an academic posting at RMIT University as a university lecturer of nutrition and public health.
